Scraper Bike Summer Camp 2025!!
The Scraper Bike Team is thrilled to announce the launch of our inaugural Scraper Bike Summer Camp! Get ready for an action-packed week from June 2nd to June 7th at The Shed @ Arroyo Viejo Park.
This groundbreaking 6-day camp will immerse participants in the vibrant legacy of the Scraper Bike movement. Through engaging and hands-on activities, young people will learn essential skills in:
- Bike Safety: Mastering the rules of the road and safe riding practices.
- Bike Customization: Unleashing their creativity and personal style to “scraperize” their very own bike.
- Bike Mechanics: Gaining fundamental knowledge of bike maintenance and repair.
- Safe Route Planning: Learning how to identify and navigate secure bike routes to and from events.
Each summer camp participant will receive a FREE BRAND NEW BIKE to customize and keep! We’ll also provide free lunch throughout the week. To celebrate their achievements, campers will receive certificates at this year’s East Oakland Futures Fest, happening on June 7th on the 90th Ave Scraper Bikeway. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity! Space is extremely limited, as we can only accept approximately 15 young people into this first-ever Scraper Bike Summer Camp.

Get ready to roll into an out-of-this-world celebration right here on our very own Scraper Bike Way! Mark your calendars for June 7th, 2025, because the East Oakland Futures Festival (EOFF) is coming, and you won’t want to miss it.
Imagine a block party amped up with an awesome Afrofuturistic vibe, showcasing the best of East Oakland. We’re talking delicious food that’ll fuel your rides, incredible art that’ll spark your creativity, a peek into the latest tech innovations, and a deep dive into the vibrant culture that makes our community so special.
The Scraper Bike Way will be buzzing with dozens of vendors and community-based organizations, offering all sorts of goodies and services right on the spot. Whether you’re looking for a bite to eat, some fresh inspiration, or to connect with local resources, the EOFF will have it all. It’s going to be a dynamic and fun day for riders of all ages – a true celebration of East Oakland’s spirit and future.

Scraper BART Wellness Center
Coming to East Oakland
Get ready for a game-changer! We’re thrilled to announce the plans of our future Scraper BART Wellness Center, a groundbreaking project combining our Health and Wellness Initiative with a repurposed BART car in Elmhurst/Officer Willie Wilkins Park.
Imagine a vibrant community space within a retired BART car, offering holistic wellness resources for underserved youth. This unique hub will combine our youth development programs with accessible health services and a dynamic community bike shop and clubhouse.
The Wellness Hub will be a vibrant, multi-faceted space designed to meet the needs of East Oakland youth. Inside the repurposed BART car, you’ll find a dedicated Wellness Center offering health education workshops on topics like nutrition and mental health. There will also be spaces and dedicated days and hours for counseling, health screenings, and even group workouts. Adjacent to this, a fully equipped Community Bike Shop will provide free to affordable bike repairs, maintenance workshops, and access to parts, accessories, and rentals. And of course, the Hub will continue to be a place for youth engagement, with dedicated time for Scraper Bike Team activities, skill-building workshops, community events, and youth bike clubs.
The Wellness Hub will have a profound impact on the East Oakland community. By providing a safe and supportive space, it will improve the physical and mental health of local youth, reducing obesity, chronic diseases, and mental health challenges. It will also increase access to vital healthcare services, connecting young people with the care they need to thrive. Through confidence-building activities and leadership training, the Hub will enhance youth development, empowering them to become agents of change. Furthermore, it will strengthen community bonds by creating a vibrant hub for recreation and social interaction. Finally, the project promotes sustainability by repurposing a retired BART car, demonstrating a commitment to environmental responsibility.
